A Company Secretary is:

  • An expert in corporate laws, securities laws and capital market & corporate governance.
  • Chief advisor to the board of directors on best practices in corporate governance.
  • Responsible for all regulatory compliances of the company.
  • A corporate planner and a strategic manager.

Admissions are done twice a year i.e. in February-May for July to December batch and August-November for January to June batch.

  • Companies with paid up capital of Rs. 2 Crores or more are statutorily required to appoint a whole time company secretary.
  • All companies seeking listing on stock exchange are required to appoint a whole time company secretary who is a member of the ICSI.
  • Member of the Institute can take up independent practice and are authorized to issue certificate and attest documents under Companies Act, Securities Laws and Exim Policy.
