Congratulations on the Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav , the 75th anniversary of our Independence. Three score and fifteen years ago, India won her freedom, and we got the right to use our franchise, the right to choose the people who will Govern us - Government of the people, for the people and by the people.
The education system struggled. But I feel proud of the DAV teachers, who quickly adopted the online teaching systems while knowing that their path led through uncharted waters.
After a long struggle, and many sacrifices, our Freedom Fighters secured this political freedom. But to enjoy the full benefits of the sacrifices of our elders, we must keep struggling to procure for our future generations, the Freedom from Ignorance. Unless we get this freedom, the “votes for notes” and the “freebies” will carry on depriving us of true freedom.
I had heard a wise person once say that if one visits an ordinary road-side tea stall, the tea-vendor will tell you how Tendulkar should have batted. He will tell you how Virat Kohli can improve his batting average. He will even tell you how our Prime Minister should handle the current financial crisis. The only thing that the tea-vendor does not know, is how to make a good cup of tea, which is his main job. Such people, who think they know everything, are the most ignorant people. They always remain disgruntled and refuse to be trained or educated. But to impart knowledge through the process of education, that is DAV’s cup-of-tea.
Moreover, our Prime Minister wants India to be “Atmanirbhar.” For this, we have to have an educated India, a skilled India and DAV’s job becomes all the more important.
During the Freedom Struggle of 1947, my elders from the Arya Samaj, the DAV Alumni, DAV staff and students, played a very vital role. Some DAV Alumni like Shaheed Bhagat Singh ji and Shaheed Chander Shekhar Azaad ji, Lala Lajpat Rai ji, got the limelight, but hundreds more, who made tremendous sacrifices, remained as lesser known Freedom Fighters. Today, on this 75th Independence Day, let us remember their contributions, and pay homage to them by pledging to carry on fighting for the Freedom from Ignorance.
Let us today start a movement-
FROM DARKNESS TO LIGHT,
FROM IGNORANCE TO WISDOM.
Have a great day, freely enjoy this National Festival of Freedom and let our PyaraTiranga flutter proudly in the sky. At the same time, please use masks, wash your hands, sanitise, and take all the precautions for stopping the spread of the disease.
मैं यह प्रार्थना करता हूँ, कि आप सब ख़ुश रहो, ख़ुशहाल रहो, आबाद रहो, आज़ाद रहो। जय हिन्द !
